Nature Gazing Links

Here are some websites that I’ve found invaluable:

General Nature Sites:

  • Wild About Devon – Great site about the wildlife of Devon. Includes an interactive ‘spottings’ map and great nature posts.
  • UK Safari – Fun and informative site that helped me identify the exciting Argiope bruennichi that I found on marshland in Devon.
  • www.buglife.org.uk – Lovely site dedicated to all the small things in life. With some activities for your ‘little ones’ too!
  • BBC Springwatch – Excellent site, with plenty to look at and enjoy. There’s also less opportunity for ‘Bloddie’ to get overexcited and twitter on about nothing on the website!
  • Wild About Britain – Brilliant forums, photos and ways to find out more about nature in Britain.

Butterflies:

Moths:

  • ukmoths.org.uk – Great site for identifying those pretty moths you find about the place. The search engine is great – you can search by colour or feature (but you have to be quite specific – is it ‘ruby’, ‘scarlet’, or ‘pink’?).
